چکیده

Infiltration and defiltration behaviors of liquids modified by potassium chloride and ethylene glycol in a nanoporous silica are investigated through a high-pressure experiment. At the first loading, infiltration can always take place quite smoothly no matter how viscous the liquid is. The infiltration pressure can be well described by linear superposition of the contributions of liquid components. At the second loading, however, only the potassium chloride modified system exhibits a considerable compressibility, suggesting that the effects of the two admixtures on defiltration are different. The irreversibility of the liquid motion may be attributed to the unique liquid structures in nanoenvironment.

Effect of Prunus Mahaleb L. Seed Extract on Ethylene glycol- and Ammonium Chloride-Induced Urolithiasis in BALB/c Mice

Background: Kidney stone disease can be quite painful, recurrent, and affects many people. Despite advances in drug therapy, there is still a need to find effective drugs with fewer complications for long-term treatment of kidney stones and to prevent its recurrence. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Prunus mahaleb L. seed extract on ethylene glycol- and ammonium chloride-induce...

Surface Coating of Red Blood Cells with Monomethoxy poly(ethylene glycol) Activated with Two Different Reagents

Methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) with molecular mass of 5 kDa activated with succinimidyl carbonate and cyanuric chloride, separately was covalently attached to human red blood cells (RBCs). Inhibition of agglutination by blood-type specific antisera (anti-D) was employed to evaluate the effect of the polymer coating. The remaining single cells after incubation with anti-D sera were cou...

Effect of Ethylene Oxide Functional Groups in PEBA-CNT Membranes on CO2/CH4 Mixed Gas Separation

Poly (ether-block-amide) /poly (ethylene glycol)/ carbon nanotubes mixed matrix membranes have been successfully fabricated using solvent evaporation method to determine the effect of ethylene oxide groups on the performance of produced membranes. The effects of CNTs (2-8 wt%) and PEG (up to 50 wt%)were investigated in both single and mixed gas test setup in different temperature and pressure. ...

Experimental Determination of the Temperature Suppression in Formation of Gas Hydrate in Water Based Drilling Mud

The aqueous mixtures of light gas molecules under low-temperature and high-pressure conditions are candidates to form gas hydrate clathrates. The formation of gas hydrate may lead to various problems and extra charges in natural gas production and processing. The presence of hydrate crystals forming a stable solid phase can potentially block the wells, pipes, and process facilities. To avoid su...

Biodegradation of ethylene glycol by a salt-requiring bacterium.

A gram-negative nonmotile rod which was capable of using 1,2-(14)C-ethylene glycol as a sole carbon source for growth was isolated from a brine pond, Great Salt Lake, Utah. The bacterium (ATCC 27042) required at least 0.85% NaCl for growth and, although the chloride ion was replaceable by sulfate ion, the sodium ion was not replaceable by potassium ion. The maximal concentration of salt tolerat...
